Black travertine — a star peeking from beyond the event horizon.
Dive into the captivating depths of the cosmos with the Event Horizon Wall Sconce. Crafted from black travertine, this unique fixture presents a textured, dark circular plate embodying the mysterious allure of a distant celestial body. Emerging from its embrace is a perfectly spherical light source — reminiscent of a star peeking from beyond the event horizon — casting a warm, ethereal glow. The raw, organic texture of the stone, combined with its profound dark hue, makes this a true statement of modern artistry.
About the black travertine — genuine natural stone with a matte black surface finish
The body of this sconce is made from genuine travertine stone. To create a deep, even black aesthetic, the stone surface is finished with a matte black coating — rather than left in its natural off-white state. This is an intentional design choice: the weight, density, and natural pore structure of genuine travertine are preserved, while the surface colour is controlled. The entire stone presents a consistent matte black — this is exactly as it was designed to be.
Natural travertine — formed by geological processes
Travertine is formed in the natural environment through thousands of years of complex physical and chemical processes. Even beneath the black surface, the pore distribution and stone characteristics of each piece remain entirely unique.
